Inside the Qnexa, there is a substance named phentermine. It is the substance of the drug which pulled from the shelves in 1997. The Qnexa was produced because of the lack of data on the cardiovascular system. The substance of Qnexa, phentermine, is one of the drugs in the diet drug Fen-Phen. This Fen-Phen was chosen by the FDA because it has a relationship to heart damage. Beside it, the Qnexa also contains topiramate. In this case, topiramate is the substance that has a connection to the attention and memory problems, depression, and suicidal thoughts. The topiramate also has caused the birth defects in lab animals.
Yet, the FDA did not think about the problem or the efficiency of this drug for the people who want to lose his weight. The FDA just concerns about the increased heart rate, possible birth defects. In this case, it can be happened when a mother becomes pregnant while taking it and psychiatric problems such as an increased chance of suicide. Unfortunately, there were about 40 % of the participants who are taking Qnexa dropped out of the study. It was because they got some pains such as headaches, constipation and tingling in their hands and feet. So, they then dropped out of the study. But, all of those did not stop the study. The study was continuing in order to get the result about the efficiency and benefits of this drug for the people, especially for those who want to lose their weight.
Today, actually the Qnexa is still waiting about the more safety studies. So, if it happens like that, the Qnexa can be approved in the future. The other diet piles, Lorcaserin and Contrave will go before the FDA for approval later this year. Those diet pills are sold for the people in this world. All of those are hoped for people to be a new diet drug.
